Deo B. Colburn Education Foundation: Scholarship $
Eligibility: •Achieved good academic standing and are of high moral and industrious character. •Applicant must be a resident of Schroon Lake. •Student must attend an accredited college or trade or technical school on a full-time basis, taking at least 12 credit hours per semester.
Application: •Original signed application and two copies. •High School Transcript.
•Award: •A grant is awarded for one year only. •If you wish to apply for the grant next year please write to the Foundation and request an application. You must submit with your completed application an official college transcript, or a copy of your college or trade or technical school grades for the last school year with a cumulative average of 2.5 or better (on a 4 point system).

Evenly Lindsey Gregory Scholarship $One award $250.00
Eligibility: •Minimum accumulated grade point average 80%. •Enrolled at Schroon Lake Central School for two consecutive years prior to graduation. •Preference will be given to a student who plans further training in a business.
Application: Through a letter with 3 references by the first Friday in June.

The Schroon Lake Lions Club Scholarship Fund $Two awards of $500.00
Eligibility: •Minimum accumulated grade point average of 85%. •Enrolled at Schroon Lake Central School for Three consecutive years prior to graduation. •Preference given to student applications of a four-year course.

Gary N. Clark Memorial Scholarship One or more awards which may total up to $1,000.
Eligibility: •Minimum accumulated grade point average of 80%. •Be a graduating senior or a former of Schroon Lake Central School. •Preference will be given to those studying the field of mechanics, transportation, and other technical or related fields.
Application: Through a letter of interest to the Superintendent at Schroon Lake Central School by May 15th.

Max Philip & Charles Philip Keppler Memorial Scholarship $
Eligibility: •Minimum accumulated grade point average of 80%. •Enrolled at Schroon Lake Central School for two(2) consecutive years prior to graduation. •Student who will pursue studies in the field of forestry or ecology. If no applicants in those areas, related sciences such as biology or earth science can be considered.
Application: Through a letter to the superintendent of Schroon Lake Central School accompanied by a completed application of two (2) letters of recommendation by May 15th.

Reid, Kelly, Friedman Memorial Scholarship $
Eligibility: •Offered to any graduate of Schroon Lake Central School who has completed at least one year of education beyond the High School level.
Application: •Applicant will submit a personal letter of application and a formal application, to be acquired from the school office, no later than May 15th to the Superintendent of Schroon Lake Central School. The letter shall state the applicants’ plans/or requirements for further education.
•NOTE: A statement of Family Income and Projected Income (Notarized please) must also accompany application.

O. Paul Leavitt Memorial Scholarship $To be determined
Eligibility: •Minimum accumulated grade point average of 80%. •Enrolled at Schroon Lake Central School for two (2) consecutive years prior to graduation. •Students who will pursue his/her education leading to a career in teaching. •Candidate shall have been accepted at an accredited 2 or 4 year college offering a degree in education or leading to a such degree and show evidence of need. •Exemplify characteristics of honesty, integrity, sensitivity, and commitment to others.
Application: •Through a letter to Mrs. Vera Leavitt by May 15th stating candidates intention of pursuing a career in education together with a completed application form including the required brief essay. •An estimate of candidates first years` expenses. •Two letters of recommendation, at least one from a teacher and none from a relative.

Schroon Lake Faculty Scholarship $To be determined.
Eligibility: •There is no Minimum Grade Point Average. •The Applicant must be a graduating Senior who has been enrolled at Schroon Lake Central School for two (2) consecutive years.
Application: •The Applicant must send a Letter of Application to the President of the Schroon Lake Teacher’s Association no later than June 1st. •The letter should contain why this student is a qualified applicant-in addition- this letter should express need, College goals and future plans.

Helen Hickox Keppler Scholarship $Amount to be determined.
Eligibility: •Available to any senior who has been a student at Schroon Lake Central school for two (2) consecutive years. •Any senior planning to pursue a career in elementary teaching, if no candidates, it is available to a student who intends to teach at any level. Failing that, the scholarship may be given to a past graduate of Schroon Lake Central School who has discovered during his college career that he or she would like to teach, particularly at the elementary level.
Application: •The candidate must submit a letter of application and introduction to the Superintendent at Schroon Lake Central School by May 15th. This letter should include the applicant’s plans. •Candidates must submit two (2) letters of recommendation, at least one from the teacher, and none from a relative.

Ollie and Evelyn Lessard Scholarship $
Eligibility: •Any graduate who has attended three (3) consecutive years at Schroon Lake Central School prior graduation. •A minimum academic grade point eligibility of 80% for three and three-quarter years of high school is required. •Applicant must have demonstrated some of the qualities exhibited by Mr. Lessard such as (1) a care for fellow human beings, (2) a strong sense of good sportsmanship, (3) congeniality, (4) helpful, and (5) loyalty to his or beliefs. •Preference is given to students with financial needs.
Application: Applicant must submit a letter to the Superintendent by May 15th of the Senior year. The letter must contain the applicant’s plan for further education, the reason for making the application, and the applicant’s future goals. Also, two letters of recommendation, one of which cannot be from a staff member as SLCS. Family members are not eligible to give references.
The actual scholarship money shall be made to the winner just prior to the winner’s beginning of the second term or semester of the recipient’s freshman year in college.

John L. Dillon Memorial Scholar/Athlete Award $
Eligibility: •Be a graduating senior accepted at an accredited college. •Applicant needs to have participated in a varsity sport. •Must have attained a GPA of 3.0 or B average. •Be an exemplary role model exhibiting the traits of leadership and sportsmanship. •Must exhibit an intellectual curiosity and desire for learning. •The recipient need not be the most outstanding athlete, but rather the one who has exhibited this unique combination of qualities while performing in high school sports.
Application: Candidates may be nominated-in writing-by any member of the Schroon Lake Central School faculty. Recommendations are to be forwarded to the Dillon Family for final consideration and approval.
The Award will be bestowed at the annual graduation ceremony.

The Val DeCesare Pharaoh Mt. Sportsmen’s Alliance Scholarship $
Eligibility: •Any resident graduate of Schroon Lake Central School. Must be enrolled for two (2) consecutive years prior to graduation and any members children are also eligible to apply. •Immediate senior year’s graduates will be given first priority, others may apply. •Applications will be considered based on need, ability, motivation and community involvement.
Application: •Applicant will submit a personal letter of application and formal application to be acquired from the School office by May 15th to: •Pharaoh Mountain Sportsman Alliance, P.O. Box 639, Schroon Lake, New York 12870. •This letter shall state the applicant’s plans and /or requirements for further education. Included with the letter of application should be the formal application form and the applicant’s letter and and two (2) letters of recommendation. •These two letters of recommendation should include one (1) from the community and one (1) from a member of the Schroon Lake Faculty. •Applicants should include an official most recent transcript of grades from their school or accredited college. •Recipients shall be students who will peruse studies in the field of forestry, ecology, or environmental sciences or law enforcement. If no applicants meet the required eligibility, persons pursuing a career in betterment of children may also apply. •Award: The winner shall be notified by letter at their graduation exercises in June. •Payment will be made to the successful applicant upon completion of three (3) months of the term commencing in the fall. •If the winner of the award does not complete the year, he/she will be expected to return a pro-rated amount of the scholarship money to the Pharaoh Mountain Sportsman’s Alliance for the benefit of the future winners.

Bruce L. Crary Scholarship $500
Eligibility: •Eligibility: Students selected must be residents of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton or Warren County in Northern New York. •Needy and deserving. •Family income limit $60,000 gross income.At upper limits be sure to be able to justify need by such things as: number of children in the family, number of children in college and /or unusual difficulties. •No children of school administrators.
Application: • Make application to the selection committee, members are the guidance counselor, the superintendent or principal, a member of the school board, a community representative and a former Crary recipient. •Each committee weighs the relative claims of “needy” and “deserving”. •Character & motivation are taken into account as are extra curricular activities and community service. No applications will be accepted after May 15th.
•Crary scholarships are renewable, but students need to reapply each year. An application form will be mailed to the student in March and should be completed and submitted to the Foundation by April 15th. •Recipients are encouraged to make contributions to the Crary Education Fund after graduation, if and when they are to able to do so, to make additional funds to students in their communities.

The Lynn Darling Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: •Minimum GPA 80% and enrolled at SLCS for 2 consecutive years prior to graduation.
Application: •Letter of introduction to Mr. Frederick Fleming, RR Rte 9 South, Schroon Lake, NY 12870 and two letters of recommendation. The letter should include the applicant’s plans and requirements for his/her education and field of study.
•$750 after successful completion of 12 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and proof of enrollment for second semester 12 credit hours.
